Spring Swim Camp Week 8 - Recap on Sculling, Timing
18-04-2010
This weeks session was a recap on what happens under the water, with more focus on sculling and getting the feel for the water.Fist Drill - swim with your hands closed into fists, focus on your forearm 'catching' the water. This drill is great for your balance. Swim normally after this drill and you should really get a good feel for the water.
Catch Up Drill - hold your leading hand extended out on front, hold it there while the other arm performs a normal stroke. Your two hands should meet in front, then hold opposite arm out in front and stroke normally with the other arm. This drill is great to isolate aspects of your stroke, but is very effective for the push phase of the stroke.
Timing - one hand enters as the other begins the push phase, one hand exits before or as the other hand begins pulling. Keep your stroke even, count in an even rhythm 1,2,3,4. Its a good idea to count at the end of your stroke so as to emphasize the push phase.
