Train Smart
The Online Diary offers you the ability to record and view training data in your HR zones. For the serious triathlete you need to train smart and that means getting your VO2 tested and then setting yourself a plan based in those zones.
Schedule Events/RacesOne of the most important is to have something to aim at. Triathlonjournal as allows you to type up all the events and races you intend to take part in so you know what you need to aim for.
Record your trainingOnce you have your training plan for the week typed up, you can then log in at anytime and record your training data. You can record the location of where you trained, the amount of KM's and hours/mins. You can also type up you daily thoughts on how your training went. For example if you are running 1k intervals you can record here your times for each 1k - this would be useful in the future as you could then go back compare your 1k times with those you can achieve now
Record Race detailsOnce you have completed your race you can then type up all the information on that race. It allows you to record your race position, your overall time, split times, your time vs the winner etc.
View Weekly training dataOnce you have recorded your training data you can then view this information in the shape of a weekly summary.
View Scheduled v Recorded PercentageOnce you have completed your training week, if you had a schedule your recorded data will be compared to this and will let you know the percentage achieved.
View Year to date SummaryThere are 2 graphs that gives an interpretation of the year. The first allows you to view the number of hours spent in each discipline during the calendar year. The second shows the percentage.
p align='left'>VO2 test will be available shortly directly from trithathlonjournal - in the meantime we can advise athletes depending on they're location, where they can get the VO2 tested. For example if you live in the Dublin area, the Physiology Department in Trinity College offers such tests and we can put you in contact with them. Record VO2 TestsOnce you have your VO2 test information you can record this on the website. VO2 tests should be carried out every 3 months so recoding this information is vital to see how you are progressing. Once you have the VO2 data in your triathlonjournal we will be work out your training Zones. There are 4 established training zones, GA1, GA1-2, GA2, and Max.
Schedule Training in your VO2 ZonesWhen you have your Vo2 training zones you can then set about scheduling your weekly training programme in these zones.
Schedule Training by CycleBased on their targeted races, experienced triathletes can break down the year into cycles e.g. 12 weeks base training, 4 weeks pre-race training etc and schedule their Vo2 training data in these cycles.
Record Training Zone DataRecord your VO2 training data on a daily basis.
View Weekly Training Zone DataOnce you have recorded your training data you can then view this information in the shape of a weekly summary. There also comprehensive tables and charts that allow you to view your training data by training zone.
